My Motorcycle and I : Our Story

My Motorcycle and I : Our Story

My Motorcycle and I have the type of relationship that involves a lot of daydreaming. I like to stare at it and daydream about riding down open roads with the sunsetting behind me. In reality – it makes me a smidge anxious and there’s no sun setting behind me.

I have a Kawasaki Versys x300 that I got last year. I Paid in full for it and hoped for the best. As I look back, I wasn’t ready for a bike but it was cool and I had the extra money. Before I bought the bike, I did take the MSF course and passed… the second time. For anyone familiar with it – the box got me the first time around. But I succeeded the second with a near perfect score.

I had an idea in my mind that I would be on mountain dirt roads exploring everywhere I could. The fact of the matter was that the first time I got on dirt I was just so anxious it was hard to focus. And the road wasn’t any better honestly. There was a breaking point where I had a full blown panic attack on a particularly rocky trail and couldn’t stop shaking.

After that last time, I took a serious break and claimed that it just wasn’t for me. Now almost a year later, I think I’m ready to give it another go. Two weeks ago I went back on dirt for the first time and actually had fun. I laughed, didn’t care about the scratches, and actually tried without being overcome by emotion. It was a blast and I think the main reason is that I want to do it now. I don’t feel like I need to do this for anyone. It’s just something I want to tackle now – the time seems right.

That’s the story of my motorcycle and I. Now I am ready to take on the open road and the open dirt and hopefully have a blast along with some adventures.
