Poem: The Need, The Want, The Holdup

Poem: The Need, The Want, The Holdup

Need that sunshine on my face
Wanting to feel free again is creeping in
If I’m being honest, I’m not sure where I should be going

Need that wind in my hair
Wanting to look down from a mountain top
Honestly, I’m feeling a bit too low for that

Need that smile to make an appearance
Wanting to laugh loudly for hours; the real sound of happiness
Truthfully, I’m not comfortable in my own skin currently

Need that spark back in my eyes
Wanting to explore and go on adventures
Trust me, right now I’m a bit too anxious for that

Story Behind The Thoughts:

This short poem was inspired by feeling stuck. I’ve been wanting to get out and do more but I’m holding myself back. I want to go on long hikes, I want to take my motorcycle off road, I want to go mountain biking. Hell, I was terrified to start running again because of how scared I was of failing. I know I’m not along in this and this poem came to me pretty easily. The poem may change a bit but the idea will be the same. I hope this helps someone try something new or do something that they’ve wanted to for a while.
